Event Information

Beginning Fall of 2017, TISC will look to grow its Bay presence in youth racing.  TISC will offer a racing style practice format on Wednesdays after school and Sunday afternoons. Teens can sign up for either day or both.  As the team and its participants develop, TISC will provide coaching and its equipment at locations at local Bay area regattas. Teens will need to demonstrate their competitive readiness before participating in any competition. It may take at least a season or even a year before a sailor is ready to compete. Becoming a proficient sailor takes time and dedication so, the more time on the water the shorter the learning curve.

Teens will sail with our burgeoning Envision Academy Sailing Team (EAST) and will be encouraged to develop teams at their own schools. Although there will be more racing opportunities for ‘high school’ teams, there will be ample regattas that do not follow the format of high school racing.

There is no prerequisite to join the team, however some sailing experience is encouraged.

Practices will be held for 7 Wednesdays and 7 Sundays with a regatta scheduled on Oct. 21-22 (should any pair of teens be ready). Additional cost of registration (usually $40-50) will be required however, all scholarship policies will apply to the team practice fees.

Wednesday practices will run 3pm - 6pm and students should try to arrive as early as possible. We expect some to arrive anywhere between 2:30pm and 3:30pm.

Sunday practice will be 1pm – 4 pm however students can and should arrive early to set up their boats and plan to go out on the water at 1pm.

There are 8 people in this event, with 8 spots remaining.
